A WORLD COMING INTO BEING
As an artist, I am multimedia-oriented. Starting in 1995 as a composer of symphonic synthesizer music—3 CDs published at Musea Records in France—I switched in 2008 to painting in oil on canvas. I always saw moving, colorful structures with energy, when I created music. So for me it was natural to start from there… The first series of 32 small paintings all got 1 word as a title, and I named it FOREIGN LANGUAGE. This became an extensive “gesamtkunstwerk” with poetry of the public, workshops at schools, participation in local manifestations, videos, and music. For fun I made an oracle of these paintings, where you answer your own question. A special website was devoted to this project. I learned that almost all religions were teaching that the world was created by words from God or the gods. So for me, this first series expressed the world before creation. These paintings form a separate collection and are not for sale. Then I immersed myself in the forces of nature in the next step towards the creation of our world. In 2012 I dared to take larger canvases and made 10 paintings under the chapter “Quantum Vision” and 4 under “Multiple Realities.” Themes of energy, subatomic patterns, or universal connections. This became my series 2 and 3. The style can be described as Abstract Expressionism, with a Cosmic Transcendental character and vibrant colors. As a creator coming closer to our world, I needed fantasy, so my next period, series 4, started in 2014. I was devoted to making 14 fantasy flowers with Latin names. I would call this style “contemporary surrealism” or “magic realism,” where the meaning of the Latin names is a substantial part of the painting. Then, I came In 2015, as close as possible to the real world with the series 5: ideal images, which I called “Icons.”. Plato states in his Theory of Forms or Ideas that the physical world we perceive with our senses is merely an imperfect shadow or copy of true reality. True reality consists of eternal, unchangeable, and perfect forms or ideas. I painted 12 common random animals that I declared holy and placed them on an indigo background, like the images of saints in the Catholic Church. This Contemporary Realism work is, in fact, a symbol of the perfectness of nature. I choose a number of animals that are not particularly admired.
In the next period, series 6, from 2015 till 2026, I fell, as it were, into the “real” world as a human being. I started to paint press photos. Until now, 20 paintings, aiming to catch the immediate, “fast” world of journalism in the reflective, “slow” world of painting, in order to to catch the spirit of our times. Though people call me an engaged artist, giving social commentary, I doubt this description because I rather see these images as symbols of human feelings.
