Henriëtte P. A. Kat, Jet Kat, was born in 1948 in Amsterdam.
She attended the Gymnasium Felisenum in Velsen and studied, among other subjects, Musiocology at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). She also held the teaching certificate from the Pedagogical Academy.
From 1978 to 1995, she lived in Paris as the owner of the decoration studio Tafari in the 20th arrondissement. She had two sons. Her studio became an international supplier to many embassies and the royal families of Saudi Arabia, the Gulf States, and the Netherlands.
After her return to the Netherlands, she worked at the French Chamber of Commerce and began composing. She released three CDs with symphonic synthesizer music on the label Musearecords in France.
She also worked on her children’s website toverklank.nl, where various children’s productions appeared, including videos, music, poems, and stories.
In 2007, she began painting. Her work consists of various periods and develops from abstract, which she calls the world before creation, through very different styles to concrete in the depiction of newspaper photos. Summarized in the video “A world coming into being”.
Between 2016 and 2018, she delivered four Neons to the Amsterdam West district with the ‘formula for peace and tolerance’: 1 u = u all.
She is currently working in Amsterdam on the 7th period of her work.
